Corin Tucker of the bands Heavens to Betsy and Sleater Kinney is releasing a solo album on Kill Rock Stars. The mama of two told The Portland Mercury these new songs are more grown up and sentimental but still in the same neighborhood as Sleater Kinney. Corin is recording with Sara Lund (drummer from the amazing Unwound) and Seth Lorinczi (Golden Bears).

The other members of Sleater Kinney are busy with their own projects, but have not ruled out reuniting the band in the future. Janis Weiss is now playing with Quasi. Carrie Brownstein has spread her creative wings into other avenues, like her blog on NPR called Monitor Mix and the hilarious videos she and Fred Armison produce as THUNDERANT.

“It’s not that I’m going to be a stay-at-home mom for the rest of my life—obviously I’m not. I hope to have some kind of music in my future. But I can’t just shift gears suddenly, and be like, I’m going on tour! See ya!”

Here’s an interview with Corin from the documentary Rock N Roll Mamas.

This is how I remember Sleater Kinney circa late 90s when we all wore babydoll dresses and wished we lived in Portland.
