I was a Chic jeans girl back in the day, you know the skinny jeans with the little slits by the ankles? Rad. But I remember my step-mom being all about Gloria Vanderbilt. Those curvaceous dark blue jeans with the swan logo. Yes, Vanderbilt is the woman we all have to thank for mom jeans.

But, she’s also the woman we have to thank for her son, Anderson Cooper, who is the most handsome news man ever.

Gloria is a fascinating woman, whose life story begins with an inheritance of somewhere around 4 million dollars before she was even potty-trained. Her mother helped herself to the inheritance but also trekked Gloria around Paris exposing her to art and fashion. Once she was old enough to control her trust fund, Gloria cut her mother off and went to art school. She held art shows for her paintings, which were later used by Hallmark. Before becoming a fashion designer, she designed houseware items like linens and china. (Source Wikipedia)

I have never owned china, but if Gloria came out with a china pattern that incorporated Vanderbilt blue jeans, I would definitely buy as set. Coupled with some mugs of Anderson Cooper’s face, and I would have myself one hellava Vanderbilt dinner party. Everyone could wear GV jeans! Feel free to steal this party theme, as it is one of my best ideas to date.

I cannot remember what made me search for her a couple months ago – but it was one of those things where you search for one thing… then end up spending HOURS reading Wiki articles about something else completely… I ended up reading ALL ABOUT the Vanderbilts. That was when I found out Anderson Cooper was her son.

The entire family story is pretty interesting.

Yeah, I stumbled upon their story too. They’re like American royalty. Very interesting stuff. And, she is seriously gorgeous, mom jeans or not.

On a side note, I did visit Cooper’s boyfriend’s bar in NYC. No Cooper sighting, however:(
