Shorts: do i have to wear them?
15 Jun
It’s very hot these days, and that’s a problem for me for two reasons.
1. As my friend Patti said, Atlanta summers always make her feel half-dead. Well put. I totally agree. I am barely alive as I write this.
2. It’s hard to look good in this intense heat. Unless, you’re a fan of sweaty faces, frizzy hair, and shorts. I personally have a problem with all three.
Being a natural problem solver and self-appointed expert on everything, I’ve decided to offer up some summer fashion tips. Here are four looks I’ll be alternating this hellish summer.
The Atlanta Uniform
This is me wearing the Atlanta uniform, otherwise known as a cute mini-dress and cowboy boots. I don’t have an issue with moms and mini-skirts or whatever. Just don’t wear tight dresses. They make me think of old school Mariah Carey, something we’re all trying to forget. My dress is from Target, and the boots are from Urban Outfitters in San Francisco. The photo was taken by my son, who took one look at the photo and said, “I think this one is perfect.”

Shorts: Do I have to wear them?
No but they can be cute when paired with the right shirt. Shorts bother me, but sometimes I get tired of rockin’ the ATL uniform. I also bought these from Target, because I’m often there buying toiletries and always seem to find something on the sales rack. The top is a hand-me-down from Mel-Wow. I have several versions of the white, see-thru, hippyish tops, but this one’s my fav due to sentimental reasons.

Ok, so that’s two of four looks I’ll be alternating throughout the summer. The next two I’ll be stealing from The Satorialist, a real fashion expert.
An Even Better Example of Shorts
This young lady looks adorable in her shorts, and she totally knows it. See how she doesn’t look boring or shapeless? That’s what we’re aiming for when we go shorts shopping.

Playing Dress-Up
And finally, the super cute girl with a super cute haircut in a super cute red dress. This one’s a bit dressier, not exactly what I would wear to the playground, but maybe for a date night or a speaking engagement on social media. Not that I have attended a social media conference, but it’s comforting to know I have an outfit planned should I ever go to one.

wow, i have a hot wife.
haha thanks! I totally agree:)
I miss the hipster bike shorts I was rocking last summer: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gushparty/3614765363/in/set-72157617612728554/
I made them by cutting up an old pair of jeans. They don’t fit me anymore. Oh well, it’s too damn hot to get on a bike anyway.
So cute!
Did I say half-dead? This week is making it feel more like 99%. I miss winter.
Dan you DO have a hot wife!
Jeez, you guys. I’m blushing but also very grateful! Thank you:)
