I use plenty of parenting techniques I got from you. Not just being there and giving hugs, but also using humor to lighten up a situation. You always used to say, "don't get all upset," in an exagerated southern accent when I was a kid. That made me feel better every time! Hug her when it hurts, be patient and listen to her. She is smart and sensitive. She reminds me of you in a way. I hope I was there when you needed attention and a hug. I wanted to be there. You make me so proud when I read what you write. I know I'm going on and on.. Devon will be fine because you care. She is a beautiful creative girl created by two beautiful creative parents. All you can do is greet each new day hurdles head on and discuss them. I got so frustrated when Kaiden went through a period that she would not wear a pair of shoes SHE loved, because a boy did not like them at school... that was a fun conversation filled with "Who the hell cares what some boy thinks of you... all that matters if WHAT YOU THINK... and you like those shoes!" And we are going through thunderstorm issues with the 6YO boy. And I love "devoncakes" - Kaiden was boogerbutt, and Ashton is boo-boo-head or Beast. You are doing it all right!
