Corin Tucker Band: 1000 Years

Corin Tucker released her first record this month since her days with Sleater Kinney. 1000 Years is on Kill Rock Stars and features band mates Sara Lund and Seth Lorinczi. The Vaselines: Sex with an X

I don’t go to many shows anymore. I should. I could. I just don’t. In my younger days, I spent every penny of my disposable income on either buying stuff to play music or going places to see bands. But now, it takes not only money, but a babysitter, time, and energy to go see a band play. But occasionally I will myself out the door to see a jawdropping band, like when Them Crooked Vultures played The Tabernacle. (Who knows how much longer John Paul Jones will be on stage, and Josh Homme and Dave Grohl are worth the price of admission as well.)

This morning as I drove the kids to school, a very catchy tune came on WRAS. Sort of a throwback to the better indie bands of the 90s, I thought. Who is this? This is actually good. When the dj said it was The Vaselines, I was a little confused. Was this a b-side I missed? (more…)
