new book by samantha bee

24 Jun

It’s not often that you see funny pregnant ladies on TV. The SnL ladies have boasted a few bumps over the years, but most actresses have to conceal their pregnancies to stay in character. Not so with Samantha Bee. Her belly has been all over The Daily Show and I love it. They’ve made jokes about it on the show and written her kids into sketches. It’s good to see celebreties schlepping through those final months of pregnancy like the rest of us.

And with her 3rd baby on the way and a husband (Jason Jones) who is also on The Daily Show, they may just overthrow Jon Stewart and turn the DS into a reality show about their family life. But until then, fans can get some juicy details of Samantha Bee’s life in her new autobiography, I Know I Am, But What Are You.

Here’s an exerpt from the book about Samantha and her dad’s musical differences:

“He always liked to remind me that I went through a very serious love affair with the music of the Smiths and that he thought it was terrible and depressing. I liked to remind him that Billy Joel was a much more interesting songwriter when he was suffering from depression and doing things like drinking furniture polish, not making songs like “Uptown Girl,” which was, coincidentally, my father’s favorite.” – Samantha Bee

And here is Samantha promoting her book:

Last weekend, the family and I hit the Artlantis festival in Atlanta. This is the second year for Artlantis, a showcase of local artists and musicians put together by The Beep Beep Gallery.

Atlanta is such a festival-friendly city, which is great if you’re looking for ways to entertain yourself and your kids for FREE. And, since I’ve only lived here a year, festivals are a really good way for me to get to know Atlanta’s art and music scene. (more…)

I was a Chic jeans girl back in the day, you know the skinny jeans with the little slits by the ankles? Rad. But I remember my step-mom being all about Gloria Vanderbilt. Those curvaceous dark blue jeans with the swan logo. Yes, Vanderbilt is the woman we all have to thank for mom jeans. (more…)

There is art. There is pornography. And then there is Regresty. And the combination of these elements is positively pornocraftic. I mean, you gotta love a website that has an entire category dedicated to vagina-inspired arts and crafts.

The photos above are real items you can buy for yourself or a loved one, such as… (more…)

I ignored the news for a few days, so I missed the announcement of Lena Horne’s death. What an amazing woman. She sings the kind of songs I love to sing around the house. The kind that inspire my children to ask me to stop singing. (more…)
