Throwing Muses were a great influence on me as a punk rock girl, and Kristin Hersh continues to inspire with her solo career and her band, 50 Foot Wave.

kids drum set

03.5.2010
no comments

I’m on the hunt for kid drum kits under $200 for my 4 year old son. My kids destroyed the first one we bought them. It was a little too let’s pretend for my little animals. This kids drum set by GP-50 looks to be a good step-up from the toy kits, but not as expensive as the top quality junior kits. Ages 3-7.

mates of state

02.11.2010

Mates of State fall in the quirky indie pop category. They’re a married duo who write songs between diaper changes and take their kids with them on tour. You know, like Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, but on a much smaller budget. Their latest full-length CD is Re-arrange Us.

Annie Clark of St. Vincent is good for girls. Why?
a) she writes her own stuff
b) she plays instruments
c) she sings thinking-woman lyrics
d) she dresses really cute, and not at all slutty.

it’s a disco ball, y’all

A house is not a home without a disco ball. I have one and you should too. Disco-themed parties are a big hit for grown-ups and kids. Plus, they just light up a room. Put it in your basement, bathroom, or that corner your feng shui consultant said needed a water element.
